A pergola giving the garden a new function

For an elegant residence overlooking Lake Iseo, the project of an oasis for leisure stemmed from the need to give a new function to an area of the garden that was not fully utilised. From the outset the villa’s project envisaged a structure capable of housing moments of relaxation, conviviality and leisure in a very strategic spot within the property: closer to pool than the existing porch of the villa, and with an unrestricted view on the lake.

The realisation has been entrusted to the architecture studio Mirko Varischi and the reseller Tappezzeria Barbieri, who have chosen the Pratic’s bioclimatic pergola Connect to create a truly immersive and protected space, to be enjoyed at any time of the day.

Reflections and transparencies to multiply the landscape

Within this intervention, the connection with the landscape is not only expressed through the choice of olive-green nuance for the structure but finds its centrepiece in Connect‘s mirrored glass walls. Two sides – respectively those towards the main house and the residence entrance – have been glazed with fixed and sliding glass walls Mirrored Glass, thereby reflecting the garden vegetation and allowing the pergola to merge into the landscape discreetly and nearly in camouflaged way.

The other two sides instead feature Slide Glass 60 glazing made of completely transparent tempered glass to provide the greatest visual opening over the lake and the swimming pool. The result is a volume blending into the surroundings, while preserving its modern and recognisable identity, albeit adjacent to a villa with an aesthetically classical style.

Climatic comfort and integrated management

With a dimension of 5 x 8 meters, the pergola is equipped with sunshade blades adjustable up to 140 degrees to regulate light intake and ventilation, thus always ensuring the best climatic comfort conditions. Furthermore, south exposure required the integration of Raso vertical concealed awnings, designed to provide shade yet without impeding the view on the outside.

The whole shading system can be then operated via a 9-channels remote control and through weather sensors allowing for automatic protection in case of adverse weather. In the evening instead the ambience is lighted up by RGB LED Line and Spot Lights with warm white light, integrated onto the blades.

Redesigning space for a fully enhanced dehors

The outdoor area is hence transformed into an authentic environment of comfort, furnished with couches, a dining room and a well-kept barbecue area. An architectural feature redefining the use of space and enhancing a large and decentralised part of the garden, usually less accessible in daily life. Here Connect’s open-air design reveals its full potential, lending balance and functionality to the domestic setting.
