Custom pergolas. The outdoors tailored to your needs.

The possibilities for stylising an open-air space are endless. The available size, architectural context but also use and functional needs are just some of the factors that shape the project, and to which clients’ ideas and originality must naturally be combined.
After all, a unique environment requires a similarly unique covering. Precisely for this reason, Pratic exclusively makes custom-made pergolas, with models conceived and produced in Italy and customised in detail to express its idea of the outdoors.

1. Custom Bioclimatic Pergolas

Amongst the most versatile and innovative screenings, custom bioclimatic pergolas represent the perfect combination of shelter and opening, able to easily adapt to any installation context thanks to configurations and colours that are always original.
Yet, what differentiates bioclimatic pergolas from any other roofing are the brise-soleil blades that allow you to easily and naturally adjust the shading, ventilation and temperature.

1.1 Adjustable and Motorised Slats

In the design of a made-to-measure bioclimatic pergola, it is also possible to customise the handling of the slats and their motorisation. The Pratic models offer three different solutions:

  • Adjustable slats – this type is the most common and allows you to adjust the inclination of the aluminium brise-soleil blades from 0 to 110 or even 140 degrees, depending on the selected custom pergola model; This is the technology used for the Opera, Vision and Sense bioclimatic models.
  • Retractable blades – introduced by Pratic with the Brera Series, these blades retract until compacting in a small space, opening up the view to the vertical plane;
  • Superimposable blades – in this case, the motorised slats are raised to slide over the fixed slats to create a dynamic shading that follows the movement of the sun’s rays, just like in Pratic’s Carrera models.

The Opera pergola by Pratic allows for automated movement of the blades

1.2 Lean-to and Self-supporting Bioclimatic Pergolas

To more easily integrate into the outdoor context, custom bioclimatic pergolas have two installation options:

  • With the lean-to bioclimatic pergolas, installation is directly on the external wall of the building, thus creating an uninterrupted extension of the space, as a solution that minimises the presence of struts, in favour of a streamlined aesthetic;
  • Self-supporting bioclimatic pergolas, on the other hand, are ideal for being positioned inside gardens and rooftops, wherever you like, with implementation of these structures only requiring a level surface, which can be easily obtained with the use of the modular Set platform, equipped with a compensation system able to resolve any slope or unevenness of the ground.

1.3 Automation and Remote Control

Coverage, lighting, vertical blinds – each element of the tailored bioclimatic pergolas can be easily adjusted with a touch through the automation and remote control systems.
In addition to the remote-control option, home automation systems connected to your smartphone or manageable via voice command are also available thanks to Alexa, Apple’s Home and Google Home assistants.
Not only that, the Pratic models can also be integrated with weather sensors that respond to the presence of light, heat, rain, wind and snow. This ensures effective use of the tailor-made bioclimatic pergola whilst optimising energy consumption.

2. Custom Aluminium Pergolas

Aluminium is the distinctive material of the Pratic pergolas, being lightweight, weather-resistant and fully recyclable. The aluminium profiles are paintedat the production site with QUALICOAT Class 2 approved powders and QUALICOAT Seaside certified pre-treatment to guarantee durability and shine at any latitude.

The search for quality characterises both the bioclimatic pergolas and the customised aluminium pergola models with PVC covering. In this case, what acts as a shield is a packable fabric with obscuring, fireproof and waterproof properties, which automatically opens and closes to protect the space or allow light and air to filter through.

2.1 Custom Lean-to Pergolas

Customised aluminium pergolas can be affixed to the external wall of the building, creating a new shaded and open environment within the landscape. This is the best solution for extending your living room to the outside or expanding the space of your room, achieving a continuous and harmonious effect.

The custom-made Brera S pergola allows you to enjoy your outdoor space all year round

2.2 Custom Self-supporting Pergola

Similarly, the bespoke aluminium shading options include the self-supporting variant. Here, there are no installation limits, meaning these pergolas can be placed anywhere, as long as there is the right surface, being resistant and planar, to accommodate the pergola struts.

3. Pergolas for Terraces, Gardens and Outdoor Seating Areas

Any open-air space can become a unique and memorable location with the right design. Pratic custom-made pergolas adapt naturally to terraces, gardens and outdoor seating areas, both in the residential and catering sectors, offering functional and aesthetically consistent solutions.

In contexts such as cafés, hotels and restaurants, tailored pergolas make the most of the available surface, even when the square footage is limited or irregular. Every inch of the outdoor seating areas can be enhanced, transforming the space into a recognisable open-air location, welcoming to guests and usable not only in summer.

In the home, rather, the pergolas for terraces, gardens and rooftops become a pleasant extension of the house, expanding the living room towards the outside or creating a new common room surrounded by greenery.
In both cases, the key to a successful outdoor seating area remains customisation, expressed through measurements made down to the millimetre, configurations on request and optional extras selected to meet precise practical and design needs.

4. Style and Customisation

An open-air space is truly effective when functionality is intertwined with aesthetics and customisation. Original configurations, custom colours and accessories are essential in forming an outdoor seating area that fully reflects the tastes and needs of those who use the space.

4.1 Dimensions and Modularity

The first aspect to take into account when customising a pergola is the size and modularity. The structure must be able to adapt exactly to the available space, creating a harmonious and enhancing volume.
A custom design, such as that offered by Pratic, allows you to create screening solutions that not only offer precision down to the millimetre in terms of dimensions but also allow you to create original configurations in terms of modularity, combining several modules side-by-side in different sizes and creating ad hoc solutions for each outdoor space.

4.2 Accessories and Optional Extras

The choice of accessories and options is not an insignificant step. Indeed, accessories improve the aesthetics of the structure and contribute to optimising efficiency and comfort. Simply put, they make the pergola even more liveable thanks to:

  • Built-in LED lighting – Whether it is LED strip lights around the perimeter or spotlights that can be installed on the blades and struts, the lighting allows you to prolong the pleasure of enjoying life outside even in the evening or when the days are shorter and the light more subdued. Dimmable systems with RGB colours allow you to always create the perfect atmosphere;
  • Exterior windows – All the pleasure of an uninterrupted views but with the comfort of protection from the wind, rain and noise. The Pratic Glass Series windows can be sliding, fixed or hinged, all available in transparent, satin, smoked or mirrored versions, for superior privacy;
  • Platforms – Ideal for installing your own bespoke pergola wherever you want, Pratic platforms are made with a modular compensation system that fixes any issues due to sloping or unevenness of the ground. The aluminium structure can be integrated with RGB dimmable LED lights whilst the walkable surface can be made with any outdoor finish;
  • Perimeter blinds – These are the number-one accessory for perfect shading of customised pergolas. Integrated into the horizontal profiles or equipped with elegant pendant boxes, the vertical blackout or filtering curtains allow you to modulate the light, increase privacy and improve protection from the sun or weather;
  • Furnishing accessories – A pergola is truly custom when it has a selection of accessories created in a tailored way. This is the case with Mod-Lines by Pratic, an authentic wall that can be arranged in line with your preferences, combining glass and aluminium shelving, drawers and open shelving. For an extra touch of style, the Drapes ornamental curtains render the space even warmer and more welcoming.

4.3 RAL Paint and Colour Options

The choice of colour is an integral part of a tailor-made design. Pratic knows this all too well, having developed a colour palette designed to harmonise with the most diverse architectural contexts.
Over thirty natural, deep and desaturated shades complete a refined and timeless palette. But amongst the painting options, there is also the possibility of creating tailor-made RAL colours.

Each aluminium structure is painted entirely in-house, within a low-impact system that operates without solvents or volatile compounds. The QUALICOAT Seaside certified pre-treatment prevents corrosion even in the presence of saltwater or humidity. QUALICOAT Class 2 approved powders, selected for their ability to maintain the brightness of the colour for a long time, then guarantee durability and performance even in difficult environmental conditions.

5. Functionality and Resistance

In a bespoke pergola, aesthetics cannot be separated from performance. Indeed, every structural detail is designed to guarantee comfort, safety and durability.

Covers with brise-soleil blades or sliding PVC panels allow you to obtain impeccable sun protection. Their movement allows the space to be shielded from the sun’s rays or filtered, depending on the needs and the desired effect.

In the event of light rainfall, the roof can be closed to cover the environment below, while rainwater is channelled into the drainage systems integrated into any struts present, allowing it to flow under the pergola.
Vertical curtains and windows around the perimeter are also particularly effective for optimising sunshading and protection against atmospheric agents, thanks to their shielding action against the sun and wind.

6. Prices and Quotes

In terms of custom-made pergolas, costs must also take into account the size, configuration, options and installation context. The costs of a custom-made pergola thus are determined by multiple variables, including the architectural characteristics of the space and the functional needs of the customer.

That is why the best way to obtain a precise amount is to request a dedicated quote that takes into account all the specifications of the project.
Pratic offers its authorised retailers an advanced configuration tool: Photomatch, an exclusive service with which to view the pergola virtually inserted into the actual context, even before purchase. This technology useful not only in the design phase but also to better evaluate aesthetics, proportions and functionality.

7. Installation and Support

The tailoring nature of Pratic products always involves a preliminary phase of site-inspection and measuring, carried out by experienced and authorised representatives. This technical consultancy ensures that each pergola is designed and installed precisely, avoiding any subsequent operations or modifications during the execution phase.

Before delivery, each structure is pre-assembled and tested at the company’s headquarters to check correct functioning and resolve any anomalies in advance. This procedure ensures you receive a product that is already optimised and ready for assembly.

Installation at the customer’s home is then entrusted to professional technicians, to whom Pratic offers continuous training and on-site or remote assistance (including via augmented reality) to resolve any difficulties. Once installation is complete, the customer can count on timely customer support, using the Pratic Customer Care platform, where they can consult user manuals and warranty certifications at any time, or through which requests for direct support can be sent to the company.

7.1 Production and Delivery Times

Production and delivery times also vary according to the model, the configuration chosen for your custom pergola and the time of year.
Each retailer has the opportunity to view the progress of the order at any time, with autonomous management of spare parts and subsequent orders. In this way, it is possible to guarantee efficiency and transparency, right from the earliest phases of the project.

8. Warranties, Maintenance and Regulations

The design and construction quality of a custom-made pergola is also reflected in its durability, guaranteed by selected materials, high-performance coatings and detailed management of the production cycle.

Thus, it is necessary to rely on screening with guaranteed quality – an aspect that Pratic takes care of from the selection of materials to the engineering, right through to the installation processes. Not by chance, all the company’s pergolas are certified in accordance with European UNI regulations, including CE UNI EN 13561 for blinds and solar coverings and EN 14351-1:2016 for windows. The structures are likewise tested to ensure wind resistance up to Class 6, depending on the model and size.

To these elements is added an extended warranty policy on all components, exceeding the legal minimums, to protect the customer and its investment.

In order to preserve the functionality, aesthetics and safety of its screening, it is advisable to carry out periodic maintenance. Simple interventions, such as cleaning of the fabric or lubricating the moving parts, are enough to maintain the performance of the pergola and prolong its operating life.

8.1 Building Regulations and Installation Permits

With the entry into force of Decree-Law no. 69 of 29ᵗʰ May 2024, converted into Law no. 105 of 24ᵗʰ July 2024, the installation of bioclimatic pergolas with retractable blades and covers with a waterproof fabric officially falls within the construction activities not requiring planning permission.

However, it is important to know that the latter is subject to compliance with precise technical criteria. Otherwise, the operation could require a Building Permit or a Certified Notice of Works Commencement, subject to local regulations and municipal regulatory plans.

For this reason, already in the initial phase of the project, it is good practice to trust in experienced dealers and professionals, able to offer timely advice also on the regulatory level, assisting the customer or architect in the evaluation of the necessary conditions and in the possible attainment of the required permits.
