The bioclimatic pergola Opera of Pratic, chosen to shield the terrace of a small villa in the countryside of Ostuni, Apulia, seems to have always been part of the landscape. Surrounded by hundreds of centuries-old olive trees extending as far as the eye can see towards the horizon, the structure blends in with its olive-green colour – not by chance – thus providing a cosy and versatile environment that, from top of a stone wall, offers an extraordinary panorama.
For many years used as a holiday home, the small villa has recently become the main owner’s residence. Upon moving in and thanks to the expertise of the reseller Tenda In in Martina Franca, he decided to modernise the outdoor space, thus making it enjoyable all year round and almost doubling the existing living area.
The centrepiece of the renovation is a 24-square-meter module of the pergola Opera. Thanks to its covering with sunshade blades, adjustable from zero up to 140 degrees, natural lighting and air circulation can be optimally used to ensure an always-customised climatic comfort. The addition of sliding glass doors of the Slide Glass 60 series, further optimises space usability, which can be completely opened or sheltered according to needs.
Indeed, the east-south-west exposure of the terrace, allows benefiting from sunlight throughout the day. Closed glass doors preserve a pleasant temperature during mild winters in Apulia. In summer, instead, blades let fresh air through and Raso vertical awnings, installed on the south and east side, provide a pleasant shade which also cools the indoors down while considerably reducing energy consumptions. Lastly, the dimmable Quadra Light spotlights integrated onto the aluminium covering gently illuminate the pergola underneath as the sun goes down.
With its refined design and its clear lines, Opera leans against the outer building’s wall by creating continuity in space and style. The bioclimatic pergola houses a dining and living room indoors, accurately furnished to welcome guests or simply relax in the open air. A truly evocative location, which also provides space to pursue one’s hobbies. For instance, dance, the owners’ favourite art, who have found in Opera the ideal place to practice it while drawing inspiration directly from the surrounding nature.
